Vignesh Swaminathan is a California licensed Professional Engineer with more than ten years of experience in the active transportation space. As a project specialist in quick build construction, he has designed and overseen the construction of the present majority of protected interesections in the United States. As America’s foremost expert in protected intersection design, he was invited to write the ‘Dont Give Up at the Intersection’ Design Guide for NACTO. He has also lead multiple safety improvement projects, such as San Jose’s Better Bikeways Initiative and the Doyle Street Improvement project in Emeryville, California.
Vignesh is also known by his persona “Mr. Barricade” on TIktok. His channel discusses urban design, drainage, equity, and features more than one dance video to songs by Shy Glizzy. The channel currenlty hosts more than 1.5 million followers.
